Shane Scott has joined Gowling WLG, the international law firm, as IT director.

He joins the firm following seven and a half years at Shoosmiths, where he was information systems director, responsible for IT services, defining and implementing a digitisation programme which focussed on client service delivery and experience.

‘A wealth of experience’

Scott has a wealth of experience in the IT industry, and prior to joining Shoosmiths he held CIO roles at organisations including Unilever, Abbott Pharmaceuticals, ICI / Akzo Nobel and UK Mail where he oversaw a range of business transformation programmes.

Commenting on his appointment, he said: “I am excited to have joined Gowling WLG and am looking forward to building on the work the firm’s Business Information Services (BIS) team has done to date and continuing to enhance client experience as much as we can.

“IT and legal tech has a huge role to play in enhancing business efficiencies and client experience in these competitive times and I’m proud to have been tasked with the exciting role of leading the firm’s IT operations.”

“Strong IT capability and innovation is key to any forward-thinking business and now more so than ever for the legal industry in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Shane’s experience and expertise improving business performance and efficiencies will build on the great work done by our BIS team to date as we continue to evolve our IT capability and innovative solutions for clients.”
